Parent Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences — Monday, October 26
Times: 3:00–5:00 PM and 6:00–8:00 PM (no appointments between 5:00 and 6:00 PM)
Parents are invited to meet with teachers to discuss their student’s progress, coursework, and goals. Please schedule meetings within the available time blocks; sessions will not be held during the 5:00–6:00 PM gap. If you have specific topics or materials you’d like addressed, let the teacher know when you request your appointment.
Halloween Parade & Trunk or Treat
Get ready for a fun-filled afternoon at T-D! Our school Halloween Parade for all grades will begin at 2:15 PM, as students march through campus in costume. A costume contest will follow; students of every grade are encouraged to show their creativity and school spirit.
At 3:00 PM, the annual Trunk o’ Treat, proudly sponsored by the Parent Teacher Organization, will begin. Parents decorate their car trunks and fill them with goodies for our young trick-or-treaters. It’s always a highlight of the fall season; bring your best costumes and your sense of fun!

Student & Parent Ice Cream Social
Join us for the Student & Parent Ice Cream Social on the first day of school, Thursday, September 10, 2026. Enjoy a relaxed afternoon on campus as families reconnect, meet teachers and staff, and welcome new students to the Thornton-Donovan community. Ice cream, toppings, and light refreshments will be provided. Parents and students are invited to mingle, ask questions about the year ahead, and celebrate the start of a great school year.

Current Student Orientation Date: September 9, 2026 | Time: 1:00–3:00 PM Who: Current students, Grades 6–12
Join us for a focused orientation to kick off the 2026–27 school year. Students will meet faculty and advisors, review schedules and classroom expectations, tour any updated spaces, and receive materials for the first week.
This session provides an opportunity to ask questions, reconnect with classmates, and leave ready for the first day of classes.
Please arrive on time and bring any outstanding forms. Families are welcome to contact the main office with questions.

Welcome to Thornton-Donovan School. Our New Student Orientation introduces incoming middle and high school students to campus life, classes, and the community that will support their academic and personal growth. Orientation includes:

New Student Orientation for Grades K–5 Date: Sept 9 Time: 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM
Welcome to Thornton-Donovan School. New students in grades K–5 and their families are invited to a brief orientation to meet teachers, tour classrooms, and review daily routines and arrival/dismissal procedures. This session will cover classroom expectations, health and safety protocols, and ways families can support a smooth transition.
Please arrive a few minutes early to check in and bring any required forms. If you have questions, contact the main office.
Japan Travel Study Exchange
Thornton-Donovan is excited to offer students the opportunity to participate in our reciprocal Japan Travel Study Exchange, a cultural immersion experience that builds global perspective through authentic connection and daily life abroad.
Lower School Moving Up Ceremonies
We proudly celebrate our Lower School with a Moving Up Ceremony—a joyful recognition of growth, achievement, and readiness for the next step in each student’s educational journey. Together we honor academic progress, character development, and the curiosity that has shaped this year. Families and teachers gather to applaud students’ accomplishments, share memories, and look forward to the confidence and enthusiasm they will carry into middle school. This milestone marks not an end but the beginning of new opportunities, friendships, and challenges—celebrating how far our students have come and the promise of all that lies ahead.
Final Exams
Final exams for Thornton-Donovan School will take place for all students. Please review your exam schedules, arrive on time, and bring any required materials. Teachers will share final review materials and office hours; contact your advisor with questions. Good luck to all students as you finish the semester strong.

Food Drive
Student Council is excited to announce that TDS has partnered with County Harvest to help feed communities in need in Westchester County. We humbly ask that your family please donate some shelf-stable food items to support them. EVERY contribution makes a difference.
The drive will be taking place from Thurs, May 28th-Fri, June 5th. The drop-off spot is in your child's respective homeroom. The homeroom that collects the most food will earn a pizza party!
County Harvest will arrive Mon, June 8th, for proper pick up of all donations!

Thornton-Donovan Travel Study: Vietnam 2026
This April, Thornton-Donovan students will take part in our Vietnam 2026 Travel Study, an immersive academic journey that connects classroom learning with history, culture, geography, and community life across Vietnam. The trip runs April 13–25, 2026, with stops in Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon.

At Thornton-Donovan, Travel Study is an extension of learning, an opportunity for students to build independence, perspective, and confidence while experiencing global cultures firsthand.
